Decorating: Creative Ways You Can Add Ribbon to your Christmas Tree

Waste not, want not. If you have extra ribbon in your house, you’ll want to put it to good use. And with the holidays on their way, they can add an elegant touch to your Christmas décor.

There are many ways you can incorporate ribbon in your X-mas design but putting it on the tree may be the easiest and the most attractive. Here are some ways you can use ribbon to take your tree up a notch.

Use the Berry Color Palette

A rich, red satin ribbon is the epitome of Christmas. Make the most of it by wrapping it around the tree and offsetting it with flowers and berries. This will make for a mix and match in texture and color that will make the tree stand out.

As a tip, try using flowers in colors other than red. A yellow gold will be perfect.

Flower Power

Ribbons are so soft and feminine, they can easily be incorporated into a floral themed tree. Here’s where you may want to keep colors well matched. Go for a white and gold color palette that will explode from the dark green of the tree.

Back in Black

It may not seem to make a lot of sense to use black ribbon on your tree, but this subtle effect can provide more wow than you would imagine. Try draping it down at a diagonal angle going first to the left and then to the right.

The ribbon won’t stand out ,but it will make your tree look fuller and more impressive. It will also bring out your lighter colored ornaments.

Rakishly Casual

Instead of wrapping your tree with ribbon, try lightly draping it on the outer boughs. This will provide a laissez faire look that’s oh so subtle and sexy.

Stripe It

Another option is to stripe your tree with ribbon. Hang the ribbon down from the topmost branches so it falls between your ornaments. This will provide a contrasting effect that is unusual and unique.

Tied Up

Instead of going for a draping effect, try tying smaller pieces of the string around the branches of your tree. Add a statement bow to the top for a more pronounced theme.

Play with Colors and Patterns

If you are using a patterned or colored ribbon on your tree, make the most of it by including ornaments that match. If you are using a plaid bow, go for a country Christmas look. If you have a lame gold bow, go for refined vintage. A bright pink bow will go well with candy like and child inspired décor.

Ribbons are a terrible thing to waste. Make the most of yours with these terrific decoration ideas. How will you be using yours to take your tree to the next level?
