What Makes Westport, CT’s Westoberfest Oktoberfest a Can’t Miss Destination

Oktoberfest is a special celebration that takes place every year in Munich, Germany. It pays homage to all things German. It honors the dress, the culture and especially the beer.

Not everyone can make it out to Munich for Oktoberfest. But fortunately, similar celebrations take place in cities all over the world. Take for instance, Westport, CT’s Westoberfest.

Westoberfest is a New England Craft Beer Festival offering a 10K road race and family fun. Read on to find out more about what is has to offer.

About Westoberfest

Westoberfest will be happening this year on October 15. It takes place at the Sigrid Schultz Lot on Elm Street in the downtown area. There are covered areas, so it happens rain or shine. The fun kicks off at noon and goes to 6:30 PM.

Entertainment and Activities

Westoberfest offers plenty of events and activities including the following.

Beer Tasting: The beer tasting takes place from 2-5 PM. Over 21 patrons are invited in to enjoy samples from local and regional breweries. They are offered a unique souvenir tasting glass and matching koozies created by Westport’s long-time jeweler, Lux Bone and Green. Over 60 tastings are provided from a variety of innovative and award-winning breweries.

10K Road Race: The 10K Road Race kicks off with a kids run at noon. The adult portion starts at 12:30. Participants run on a certified course. Fleet Feet pledges to donate $1000 from the race fund to Push Against Cancer. You can sign up for the run online in advance.

Live Music: Live music takes place during the beer tasting and throughout the event.

Food: Food trucks will be on hand offering tasty items from local producers.

Giveaways: Guests can enter for a chance to win a great pumpkin giveaway and/or fresh apple totes.

Pumpkin Decorations: Pumpkins can be decorated with the help of the Artists Collective of Westport.

Other Entertainment: Other entertainment includes a street musician, strolling bubbles and kids’ author readings.

Air Cooled Vintage Car Expo: The vintage car expo takes place at 3:30. Guests can stroll around to check out the selection of air-cooled classic cars.

Single: $40

Pair: $75

Social Pack of 10: $350

You can also purchase tickets day of at the door. Only single tickets will be available for $50.

Compo Beach: Voted one of the best beaches in Connecticut, Compo offers a marina, pickleball courts, a skate park, basketball courts, a volleyball court, a children’s playground a pavilion and 29 acres of park land.
